For my two children, my wife and me, however, these were the least of our worries. Our fireplace took care of the heat, and our Smartphones have built-in flashlights. We had enough dried goods to replace the perishable items in our fridge.
What we didn't have we soon learned were our two biggest necessities -- Apple TV and the DVR. Without these two electronic items, we had no streaming video and no recorded shows.
Our most startling observation? A night without The Walking Dead and Grey's Anatomy is truly hard to take.
