Empathy is a teacher's most important trait
Politicians and bureaucrats worry about standards, high stakes testing and accountability in education. They don't comprehend what students need.
They don't realize that when kids are in pain or are hungry or afraid, they don't care about math facts or grammar rules.
If only the policymakers understood what real teachers mean. . .
